Plan Check

The West Covina Fire Prevention Bureau conducts plan reviews of all construction projects within the City. All projects, with exception of fire protection and life safety systems are to be submitted directly to the West Covina Building Division; a copy will be forwarded to the Fire Prevention Bureau and reviewed for compliance with the 2019 California Fire Code, 2019 California Building Code, California Health and Safety Code, and West Covina Municipal Code (WCMC).

Please note: Effective June 1, 2023, all plan review submittals will only be accepted in digital format.

Any work requiring a permit may not be started until the plans are approved and the permit is issued. Any work started prior to issuance of a permit is subject to an immediate stop-work notice and cited for the non-compliance fee.

All fees for plan check are listed in the City of West Covina's Adopted Fee Schedule.
